Standley Lake is Westminster's drinking-water reservoir and one of the larger stillwater fisheries in the northwest Denver metro corridor, covering over 1,000 surface acres with shoreline access managed as a regional park. The lake holds rainbow trout, walleye, and perch, with trout stocking occurring in spring and fall when temperatures are in range. Walleye fishing is a particular draw — the population is self-sustaining and fish regularly run 15–20 inches. Shoreline bank fishing is popular at the western access area; a boat ramp accommodates electric-motor watercraft. The lake is positioned directly beneath the Front Range foothills, giving it a scenic backdrop and an afternoon wind pattern that can be challenging for small boats. Chironomid midges (size 14–18) under an indicator is the standard spring trout technique from pontoon boats.

Standley Lake is managed by the City of Westminster and requires a separate Westminster recreation permit in addition to a Colorado state fishing license. The park is open seasonally; check Westminster Parks and Recreation for current season dates and fee structure. Electric motors only — no gas-powered boats. Walleye have a minimum size limit; consult the CPW brochure for current walleye regulations specific to Standley Lake.
